Scott,
"What did you manage to get wrong on that DC6 flying attempt then ?....."
Absolutely nothing...
Have you not heard of 'uncontrolled flight in uncontrolled airspace' ?
I was merely demonstrating it in the DC6....

I've seen it often enough - uncontrolled airspace or not!

It will be interesting to see how the PMDG DC6 simulates the effect of carburettor icing build-up in these old piston-engined radials which powered many world war 2 aircraft, such as the Hellcat, Thunderbolt, Corsair, to name a few.
Quite informative little article at http://www.normanavi...com/Carbice.php I like the pic.
My main problem when flying the DC6 is watching for the onset of carb icing, because the engine splutters and stops as the carb air intake ices up (times 4!). I HAVE now learned to use the engineer's popup panel which helpfully dishes out appropriate warnings, because an air restart with a cold engine is very near impossible unless you are quick. Not done correctly(me) results in an engine just coughing out unburned fuel and smoke....

Took a lot of sweary words and cigarettes to restart the no.1.......
Although I still use FS9 I'd hope to see PMDG's FSX effort include this level of detailed consequences. Knowing PMDG quality, I'm pretty sure it will. Something to look forward to, for those of us who may venture down this line.
Regards.
