Hi everyone. I'm just dipping my toe into the pond here and seeing if this idea generates any interest...! VATUK (and the rest of VATSIM) has a long established tradition of getting together on an evening and manning up an airfield, usually advertising it in advance to get some pilots flying into and out of wherever is online.

Well, controlling is fun but flying is probably the reason why most of us ended up on here in the first place, hence why don't we get together as a division and do some big group flights to places across the globe, probably with "tricky" approaches to add to the fun.

There is no reason why we couldn't choose to arrive or depart from a UK airfield, but it would be pointless to try and turn it into an ATC event (as that's not the point!). Maybe a couple of controllers could man up just a couple of positions to get us on our way, (perhaps those who haven't got FS installed/working or don't have time to complete the flight).

A lot of people are quite happy to control for about 3-4 hours max in one sitting, so if we take this as a maximum duration, (except in special cases if we decide to fly somewhere more exotic) it opens up quite a wide range of destinations.

Firstly, would this be something you'd be interested in participating in and secondly do you have any ideas of places we could fly to/from and why they're fun to fly into/out of?

If we were to fly as a divison, there would be a lot of expected pilots, right? So it makes sense to depart from and arrive at a big airport as opposed to a small one. For example, LOWI or LGXB. How many stands? There isn't a great amount, especially for a large divisional group flight with more pilots than available stands.

But I like the idea!

I understand Tom, a structured group flight was how I interpreted Callums post and his request for tricky approaches. Just the first three off the top of my head within 3hrs flying time from the UK. My 2p worth anyway to go into the mix. Great Idea to get together
