Voice Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS). As provided for in Paragraphs A(8)(a) and ( b )of the Code of Conduct, a controller is permitted to create a second connection to the VATSIM network using his or her CID for the sole purpose of providing voice ATIS to pilots. A controller wishing to provide voice ATIS MUST meet each of the following requirements:

• The controller must have an S1 rating or higher

• An ATIS may be created only for facilities which have a real-world ATIS

• There must be a controller providing local control (tower) services at the field for which the ATIS is being created. This can be an overlying center or approach controller;

• There can be only one voice ATIS per controller and the recording must be limited to one airport;

• The maximum length of the voice ATIS must not exceed one minute and the only audible sound must be the controller reading the ATIS. In addition, the controller must provide only that essential information which is typically found in a real world ATIS for the location. This would include weather, active runways and operational information directly relevant to pilots operating at the field. Controllers are expressly prohibited from providing any other non-relevant information including, but not limited to, event announcements or personal information about the controller or others;

• Whenever a controller chooses to create a voice ATIS, he or she must also provide the same information in the form of a text ATIS; and

• A controller may provide a voice ATIS in his or her native language. However, if a controller chooses to do so, then the required text version of the ATIS must provide the same information in English.

The main point that I want to get across here is in relation to the third point.You cannot setup an ATIS if there is no controller providing top down for London Stansted (refer to the list in correct hand off procedures). If that controller is present however then feel free to setup the ATIS. If Stansted Tower is online then normally he or she would setup the ATIS.

Hopefully this clears any confusion up and I apologise for not emphasising the point in any mentoring sessions so far.

Join us on the launch of Virgin Atlantic's brand new Airbus 330 route between London Heathrow (EGLL) and John F Kennedy (KJFK). The route was officially launched on 21st April and saw the latest addition to the Virgin Atlantic's A330 fleet G-VRAY (Miss Sunshine) operating the service.

Departures from London Heathrow are at 1020z. Full ATC at both ends is anticipated. Returns are welcome the following day.

• Could all members please check the situations below and follow the appropriate action if the original action occurred between 20/03/2012 -- 02/04/2012:
  
  • Visiting and transferring members of the division that registered with the RTS System will need to contact Wycliffe Barrett, Membership Manager.
    
  • Members that requested an RTS change in the RTS System will need to re-request these transfers.
    
  • Members who had booked a flight using the Events Hub will need to re-book their flight, the Events Hub is functioning at full capacity therefore this should not be a problem.
    
  • Members who took a theory exam on the RTS system should re-attempt the exam.
• Exam reports for past exams filed during the above time bracket will be put back into the system by the Web Services Department and the Examining team.
  
• Session reports for sessions filed in the above time bracket will be put back into the system by the Web Services Department and the Training Department.
  
• Mentors will be invited to re-file reports for past sessions in due course.

VATSIM-UK and Heathrow RTS present: Heathrow RealOps 2012

This year's Heathrow RealOps is planned to be bigger, better and busier than ever. What's more, this event comes with a twist - Heathrow will be staffed for a whole 12 hours in our flagship event of the year meaning there will be up to 1,100 movements that will be available to book. Bookings/schedules are currently being compiled and organised and we are hoping to open up the bookings site near or on 1st April.

Of course, to run any successful event, we need committed, focussed validated controllers, and this is where we need you. If you would like to be part of this exciting event, then please complete this form to register your interest. Experience levels will, of course, be considered when selecting controllers for the different positions on offer. The actual roster will be published by the RTSM/RTSI in due course once a draft roster has been established.
